UK Car Sales Increase For The 16th Month
21/08/2013
Car sales within the UK, have continued to increase, throughout the European markets. The sales that were made, posted their highest numbers, sixteen months in a row, during the month of June. This rise is due in part by increased demands, and increased consumer confidence, in making larger purchases.
Presently, the sales that have been made in 2013, are ten percent higher than the sales that were made in 2012. The United Kingdom is showing a sustained amount of growth, when it comes to the car industry. In fact, the sales that have been recorded within the UK, are higher than the sales that have been recorded all across Europe.
During the month of June, there were 214,957 new registrations that were made. This is an astonishing 13.4 percent increase, compared to the same month, a year prior. The data relating to the amount of registrations that were made, was obtained from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. This group is an industry wide group that carefully monitors how the automobile industries are faring in the present economy.
Although the increase in sales, is a great thing, truth be told, that the amount of sales and registrations that are being made, are still lagging behind pre-crisis levels. The growth in the industry has managed to ease the fears that once surfaced, regarding the automobile industry. The UK has built the industry up immensely, grossing, £55bn. Last year, the UK automobile industry, came in second in Europe, after Germany.
The interim chief executive of SMMT, Mike Baunton, stated in an interview that the reasons why the industry has been growing are due to a brand new slew of vehicles, along with competitive financing options. New and improved products are bombarding British showrooms.
Baunton states that even though there is still a lot of potential challenges that lie ahead, with the recent growth of the industry, it is apparent that the automobile industry, within the UK, is going to perform better than it did the year prior. Private buyers are purchasing vehicles, like there is no tomorrow. In fact, the amount of private sales, within the UK, increased by 21.3 percent, during the month of June. This is against the 6.1 percent rise within fleet sales.
The rise in vehicle sales, has coincided with strong demands for smaller, more efficient vehicles. The modern day consumer is looking for a vehicle that is efficient, and decreases the carbon footprints, that are being made on the world today. Newer vehicles are being made to help save consumers money, while also saving the environment, at the same time, all in all, it is a win-win situation.
The average new vehicle that is being manufactured today, has the ability to decrease the amount of CO2 emissions, by as much as 3.7 percent. Within the first six months of 2013, CO2 emissions, continued to decrease, as more and more people, were jumping on the bandwagon, and choosing to get rid of their old vehicles, and replace them with more efficient ones.
